Canvas is a film about the power of imagination. Outsider artist Jake McCord from Thomson Georgia, lives in a world he himself has created.
“I started studying psychology in school and it was really interesting, but too scientific. I wanted to explore my interest in people in a creative way, so I started making documentaries and got admitted into film school. From then on I’ve always known that I wanted to make documentaries.
I try to do work that is useful, not just for fun or money. I like to think that it is for some good. I am really interested in arts, science and people who are living outside of society, people who are misunderstood. We can learn a lot from these people, they tend to have a really special outlook on life, like Jake McCord in Canvas, who is kind of a loner, a weird guy. But something drew me to him and I would like to think that in this film Jake teaches us something.”
