Go Social Film Magazine is celebrating Halloween 2013 with a lineup of award-winning international horror short films and exclusive interviews with their creators. Each monthly issue of the digital magazine features short films streamed to readers in their entirety, along with in-depth filmmaker interviews exploring the production backstory of each film. This month’s issue of Go Social Film focuses on the horror genre with an emphasis on comedy.
Films selected for the annual Halloween issue include Sitges Film Festival nominee for Best Short Film, “Game” directed by Josh MacDonald, “The Sleepover” from Chris Cullari and Jennifer Raite, and Bill Palmer’s “Vicki”, an homage to John Carpenter’s “Christine” which screened at Toronto After Dark and Screamfest LA Festivals.
Over the top gore and special FX are represented in the line up with the internet sensation, “Fist of Jesus” from directors Adrián Cardona and David Muñoz – a micro budget zombie film of biblical proportions. The film garnered 1.3 million views on YouTube as well as winning horror festival awards around the world.
Jesse Blanchard talks to the magazine about his 3D film “Shine”, a barbershop horror movie featuring puppets and filmed using Blanchard’s own 3D camera system, called the Robert Rig 3D.
“What Go Social Film Magazine is doing for independent filmmakers is fantastic. Not only are they bringing attention to great films, they are displaying the context, challenges, and reasons the films were made as well… I can’t wait to see the other scary shorts people have cooked up.” -Jesse Blanchard, Director “Shine”
Go Social Film also interview Jerome Sable and Eli Batalion, creators of the groundbreaking horror musical, “The Legend of Beaver Dam”, winner of the Sundance Short Filmmaking Award Honorable Mention 2011, and the upcoming feature film “Stage Fright” starring Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf.
“Horror and Comedy are a perfect film combination. Everybody loves a good laugh while they’re being scared to death. The films in this issue will make you laugh as well as thrill and chill you.” -Jason Rogan, Artistic Director, Go Social Film Magazine
