Mr Hublot is a withdrawn, idiosyncratic character with OCD, scared of change and the outside world. Robot Pet’s arrival turns his life upside down: he has to share his home with this very invasive companion.
“One of the challenges of the film was that it was an artistic project but at the same time a very complicated technical project with a lot of details. One of my primary goals was to do an artistic film and and not just a technical one. It wasn’t a demo, you know. We have to tell a story, to create something poetic. For me, Mr Hublot is a poetic movie. It was very important to keep in mind that I have to tell a story. During the entire process it was a constant struggle between technical and artistic aspects. That was very hard indeed. It was also a stereoscopic 3D movie project. It was amazing to do the movie in 3D as well. So yes, it was a challenge to manage those two side of the project at the same time and to keep up the vision of the film.”
