“I read an interview with a child soldier retelling his story as an adult. He was talking about the things that he had done or that he was made to do when he was a kid.Everything he was saying was very hard to hear, and he told them in a very cold way. I looked at him and I realized how difficult it would be for him to recover from all the things that he had done. There are films that have been made about child soldiers, but I’ve never seen a sequel. What happens to the ex-child soldier? We started to work from that perspective.”
